Psychology Beyond Borders (PBB) is an international nonprofit organization focusing on the psychosocial impacts of terror attacks, armed conflicts, and natural disasters. PBB combines psychosocial service delivery and research regarding effective psychosocial strategies to traumatic events. Our ultimate goal is to alleviate psychological suffering.

Psychology Beyond Borders has an annual award program designed to support projects which advance the PBB mission.  The application window for the 2009 awards has been closed, and PBB will announce the winners in late 2008.

PROJECT IN FOCUS

LIVING IN FEAR OF NATURAL DISASTERS: INDONESIA

PBB is working with school children, their parents and teachers who suffered the effects of the Yogyakarta earthquake and who continue to live in fear of natural disasters. PBB's goal is to develop a greater understanding of the relationship between trauma exposure, parenting, and post-traumatic psychological distress in children. Click here to learn more.
