Purpose and Mission

Psychology Beyond Borders (PBB) is a non-governmental organization (NGO). We are a US based not-for-profit that provides services around the globe.

Psychology Beyond Borders is a humanitarian organization that is different than most. We provide individual and community supports to help people manage the fear and terror that can result from natural and man-made disasters, terrorism and armed conflict.

Our mission is to alleviate psychological suffering in the aftermath of these traumatic events.

PBB's activities include psychosocial service delivery, program evaluation and research, education and training, community capacity building and policy development.

One of our goals is to contribute to the body of knowledge about the helpful or harmful effects of post-event interventions. PBB aims to help facilitate the most effective strategies for prevention, preparedness and response to traumatic events and to inform policy development in each of these areas.

For too long, the stigma surrounding emotional distress and psychological disoders has prevented extensive work in this area. PBB aims to get 'Psychology into Policy' in every area affected by trauma.
